Camco Pak Guaiac is a simple, convenient and economical test for the qualitative detection of fecal occult blood. This test is primarily intended for the detection of fecal occult blood in asymptomatic gastrointestinal bleeding. This 300 count Pak includes a Hydrogen Peroxide based developer that will produce a distinctive blue color when hemoglobin (blood) is present in the fecal sample. This reaction occurs within thirty seconds. The Camco Pak Guaiac also includes a positive control solution - 5mg / dL bovine hemoglobin in an aqueous buffered solution with preservative. For the physicians office, this product comes with convenient return envelopes, so your patient's can just drop it in the mail.

Directions:

1. Identify Camco Pak Guaiac with patient name, address and date.
2. Apply one or two specimens to the test area of the Pak using the enclosed applicator stick and then close the Pak flap. Do not over apply.
3. To develop, open the flap covering the developement area on the back of the Pak. Add two drops of Camco Pak Guiaiac Color Developer over each specimen.
4. Read results up to thirty seconds. Disregard any colors that form after thirty seconds.

Results:
Positive:

Any trace of blue appearing within thirty seconds is positive for occult blood.

No blue color within thirty seconds is negative for occult blood. Colors appearing after the thirty second test period should be ignored.
